Join us as we dive into a blend of Afrobeat and reggae dub.
These instrumental inventions bring musical sunshine.
So were the Evergreen Afrodub Orchestra.
We formed around, right around 2017.
Me and Paul started talking about a roster and kind of just got a bunch of names and invited everybody out.
I think our first show was March of 2018.
It's really what we love to play.
It's a it's a genre of music that's maybe a little niche, but it's definitely something that we all wholeheartedly, you know, put our put ourselves into.
Definitely a mix of a lot of different sorts of genres, but I would say mostly Afrobeat, especially Fela Kuti, reggae, especially reggae dub, maybe a King Tubby and there's all sorts of other things funk and jazz and soul and Caribbean.
We are all composers in this band.
That gives me a certain ownership in to a project, rather than being just a hired gun; because nobody in this band is that.
We're all rehearsing and writing and composing together.
Most of the songs that you heard today were organically composed as a group, and they're still being sculpted right now.
Absolutely.
You might have heard us sculpting between takes.
This is something that I want to be a long term project that we just continue to build over the years, and it just keeps getting better and better!
Hey!
