I own Solitude Barbershop, and I've owned it for three years.
We just got voted the best barbershop in the city.
We're passionate about our people, and we're passionate about our craft.
And we're passionate about Spokane.
Well, when you think of any majorly successful business, or at least when I think of any majorly successful business, I'm so focused on the downtown of any city.
It's the epicenter, right?
It's like almost in the last two years, we're like, yeah, it's unrecognizable.
All of a sudden these people are like, I don't even want to be down here.
I don't want anything to do with this city.
There's like ten people hanging out there laughing, drinking, smoking, doing all of their stuff.
it's like 10:00 Am on a Tuesday.
You're in front of my barbershop, vacationing with your drugs.
when we get to work, there is human feces, there's there's piss, there's there's throw up, there's rotten food.
Someone ate and left every single morning without fail.
We have to adapt.
Is it something we want to do?
No.
Is it fair?
No.
Is that what our lot is?
Until somebody does something about it?
Yeah, yeah.
We're forced to be bystanders.
What am I going to do?
I'm going to just keep cleaning.
I'm going to keep maintaining.
I'm going to offer exactly what solitude says it is, which is a respite from that.
